Greylisting
When a user is logged into their SmarterMail account they can choose to enable greylisting (Account > Settings). Full details at:
http://help.smartertools.com/SmarterMail/v5/Default.aspx?p=_SA&page=main/frmmysettings
Greylisting will 'deflect' most spam by asking the sending mail server to 're-send' the email.
Be careful: some mail servers, like Microsoft Exchange, are often configured to ignore the greylisting re-send command, which would result in the email message being returned as no-deliverable.
Recommended: encourage users to take advantage of the "Trusted Senders" list and add email addresses of people that they DON'T want to check for spam. See
http://help.smartertools.com/SmarterMail/v5/Default.aspx?p=_SA&page=main/frmspamoptions
Note for domain administrators: you can set domain-wide "Trusted Senders" lists by going to Domain Settings > Spam Filtering > Trusted Senders; all users on that domain will skip spam checks on this list of email addresses AND ALSO their own list of Trusted Senders.
